In general, a partially timber-framed home or hybrid, such as our model, will cost about 10-12% more than a quality custom built, stick- framed home. A fully timbered home will cost approximately 12-15% more. Actually, 15% for a timber frame home is a relatively small number considering the unique one of a kind beauty, limitless decorating options and the hand crafted labor that goes into the timbered joinery. As an example, the additional cost of a timber frame home is many times less then what a home owner may spend to upgrade a kitchen.
Our admirers and in many cases subsequent timber frame home owners that view our show home or visit our customer’s homes and experience these unique one of a kind exterior and interior features, strongly believe the small additional cost is well worth the all inspiring feeling that these homes provide.
An owner/contractor that has experience working as a construction coordinator can expect to save in the 10-15% range over a fully contracted price. If an owner has the skills and time to devote a significant amount of their own time and labor to the actual building process, they could expect to save up to 20-25% of the total contracted price. If this appeal’s to an owner and they have the skills we would be glad to work together supporting either of these approaches.
